“Let it Go”
HELPFUL HINTS:
· CHARACTER: This is a character who is has been conflicted inside and is facing conflicts with others. She decides to be strong, confident, and not worry.
· MOOD: Show us the contrast between when the character is feeling sad and lonely – and to when they decide to be free and ‘let it go’!
· MOVEMENT: Walk around slowly, but purposefully in the first verse (in a way that fits with the words). Use bold gestures and movements when the mood changes to confident and free. Let the words help you to create gestures. (For example: look up and shrug for “Heaven knows I’ve tried”. But also be inventive.
· INTERACTION:
o SOLO: Interact with us (the audience) with your facial expressions, eye contact and movement as if we are the only ones who can hear you and see you in your “kingdom of isolation” – like you know we are on your side!
o PARTNER: This one won’t work as well with a partner. Try doing it tag-team, where you are on stage by yourself first, then your partner takes over for verse two onwards.
[Verse 1]
The snow glows white on the mountain tonight
Not a footprint to be seen
A kingdom of isolation,
And it looks like I’m the Queen
The wind is howling like this swirling storm inside
Couldn’t keep it in, heaven knows I've tried
Don’t let them in, don’t let them see
Be the good girl you always have to be
Conceal, don’t feel, don’t let them know
Well now they know
[Chorus]
Let it go, let it go
Can’t hold it back anymore
Let it go, let it go
Turn away and slam the door
I don’t care
What they’re going to say
Let the storm rage on
The cold never bothered me anyway
