Girls, there are a lot of male parts.  But don't worry!  Feel free to audition to be a brother. The butler and baker can also be females. We can do wonders with makeup!

What will I need to do at the audition?

Singing

All acting parts will need to do a singing audition.  You will be asked to sing one verse of our national anthem in either Maori or English.  Mrs Becker has sheeet music for this or you can look up a youtube video here to practise with:

If you are trying out for a dance part you will need to perform a dance of your own.  We really want to see what you can do!

If you are trying out for an acting role there will be two parts to your audition:

1. Singing and

2. Lip-syncing

See the information about these two requirements below.

Lip-syncing

To see how you would go with confidently acting while singing a song, we would like you to do a lip-syncing audition. The focus is not about your singing voice, but instead we will be looking to see your…

  • Acting ability – become a character, tell a story

  • Confidence and focus

  • Use of acting techniques: facial expressions, gesture, movement

YOU CAN:

Ø Perform solo: 1 verse and 1 chorus

Ø Perform with a partner: This can either be in two big chunks, or divided up evenly how you like (for example a couple of lines each at a time) with the opportunity to interact with each other.

Ø Choose an alternative song. This will need to be approved by Mrs Becker first. We have chosen songs which have a story-telling style, so aim to choose something where you can become like a character in a story.
